The Little Black Bag

“My current spending style is basically “buy one thing and wear it into the ground” so if it doesn’t match my joggers *and* my dresses then it’s a no from me!”

I think it’s fair to say that the little black bag is (and always will be) a wardrobe staple, and thankfully there’s a style for every personality. I prefer mine to be as minimal, and as understated as possible, but that’s just me. When I’m shopping for a new bag there are a few specifications that I look out for; firstly – obviously – it’s got to be a bag I’ll feel proud to wear. If the bag doesn’t excite me then I see no point in ever owning it.

Secondly, it needs to be versatile enough to dress up, or down. My current spending style is basically “buy one thing and wear it into the ground” so if it doesn’t match my joggers *and* my dresses then it’s a no from me!  Lastly, and arguably the most important factor – the bag must comfortably fit my everyday-carry. If there isn’t enough space for my phone, keys, purse, and everything else then it’s never going to work out.

H&M £17.99

This little bag from H&M is great. It fits all my stuff and I love how affordable it is! It has a large zipper at the top which makes it super easy to access, and that’s a huge deal for me. I’ve had so many bags in the past that I’ve grown apart from because I physically can’t get into them, but this bag is just so easy to swing around and rummage through! I love it for when I need to pop into town to run a few errands. It’s lightweight, it’s practical, and it looks far more “boujee” (lol) than it actually is.

I’m so taken aback by how much I love this bag. The only thing I actually think it’s lacking is an inner zip compartment. I like to keep my memory card reader separate so that I can find it that bit quicker (and know that it’s not getting thrown about too much) so I do really wish it had one. It does -admittedly- have a passport-sized inner pocket, but I feel like those are more suited for storing things like travel cards or receipts rather than hardware that requires a little more security.

I’d love to have a collection of handbags. And starting from now I’m going to. It’s always been a dream of mine to have a killer wardrobe filled with classical seasonal pieces with the accessories to match, and bags have been my favourite accessory for as long as I can remember. It’s time for me to leave my current spending style behind and upgrade to a new one.

    1. I’m so glad I could be of some help! It’s such a comfy bag to wear. It doesn’t cut into your shoulder either which is an extra positive I forgot to mention in the post xxx

  1. So glad you shared this as I need a simple, yet stylish everyday bag that doesn’t cut into my shoulder! Enjoyed reading about it too, looking forward to reading more of your posts. x

  2. I have “that bag” as well. I have something that holds everything I need and fits on my one shoulder or over my shoulder as a cross body. It was a bit more expensive because it’s an RIFD travel bag, with zippers that lock and latch for flying and other things, but its gray and fits everything you can think of and there are pockets EVERYWHERE in it.

It’s called this: Travelon Anti-Theft Heritage Rfid-Blocking Tote Bag and you can get it at Kohl’s for $80.
